Final Farewell to ProjectTGND

Devlog

Hello there!

My name is Shiki of White Celebration Production, and this is a postmortem regarding The Girl Next Door project. It started as a passion project back when I was learning Python and Ren'Py. I poured my ideas and passion into its development.

But then again, I was too naive to realize the hardships of developing a game, let alone a Visual Novel. I was inspired to create a Doki Doki Literature Club clone that focuses on more adult themes, expressing real controversial topics through my writing. However, using such themes proved to be a challenge for a small team like mine.

Important Point: Despite having some help, I felt guilty taking advantage of Rui's kindness. Hence, I insisted on solo development, only to realize it was even more challenging than anticipated.

Despite these challenges, The Girl Next Door remains my crown jewel. While it was never properly released or brought to life, I am grateful for the lessons learned during its development.

Important Point: The experience with The Girl Next Door has left me uncertain about continuing to make visual novels. As a solo developer, it's a hard and time-consuming endeavor.

In the future, I'm not sure if I'll continue in this direction. It's a tough decision.

Important Point: But who knows? I might explore other avenues in game development. Only time will tell.

For now, I bid farewell to The Girl Next Door project. It's time to move on.

Thank you so much for your support.
